Our Executive Team

Brent Hillier is the founding member of the BHA team and the company’s success has come in part from Brent’s 30 plus years in the employee benefits industry.  After working for a benefits brokerage, Brent started his first company in 1988 providing brokerage services and benefits consulting to companies from many different industries and geographies.  Brent also started and operated a successful prescription drug card company, worked as President of Business Development and Client Relations for a large TPA, has experience working in the reinsurance markets, and started BHA as an opportunity to leverage his expertise and understanding in assisting employer groups to create and manage successful benefit plans. 

Chris Hillier received his MBA from Stanford Business School and has sought to apply his emphasis in healthcare to benefits consulting and helping employers reduce the costs of their benefits programs.  He is one of current managing members of Benefit Health Advisor and works in both sales and account management.  Chris has been involved in benefits management for over 60 self-funded employer groups from many different industries and locations.  He has had experience in founding and building a wellness company, reinsurance markets, and many different areas and facets of benefits and risk management.

Brian Hillier is grateful to have learned the business from some of the best in the industry.  He is a true expert in self-funding and fully insured benefit plans.  Brian prides himself in the strong relationships he has built with his clients, bringing them the best products and solutions available in the marketplace.  Brian is a compliance and Healthcare reform guru and true expert.  His attention to detail and analytic abilities means quality service to BHA clients.  Brian also has experience and is a true specialist in securing provider and medical excess loss coverage to health plans and healthcare providers in risk situations.


Jake Zehnder has over 15 years of experience in the employee benefits field. During his tenure, Jake has worked for both large and mid-sized brokerages.  He brings a passion and strong desire to help employers contain costs without sacrificing plan benefits to the employees.  His knowledge of self-funded and fully insured plans is a strong asset to not only Benefit Health Advisor, but to the employers and broker partners he works with.

Jennifer Goulding is a seasoned insurance professional with a broad spectrum of experience.  She has worked in the insurance industry for 15 years and been on the carrier, broker, and third party administrator side of the business.  Her areas of expertise include compliance and Health Care Reform, reporting and analysis, strategic long term planning, and proactive customer service.

Barbara Ellis is an insurance professional who educates, trains, sells, manages accounts and interacts with people in all capacities, be they employers, employees, brokers or business partners.  Through these meaningful, engaged relationships, she is a valuable resource people trust to guide them toward favorable insurance outcomes.  She attends to details while also holding a strategic, “big picture” perspective.

Julie Smith has experience in licensing compliance with TIAA-CREF.  She has worked in a variety of benefits brokerage roles including underwriter, ancillary product marketing specialist, and service representative.  Julie is outgoing and personable, which is helpful as she builds relationships with vendors and carriers who help us to properly serve our clients.

Carol Bernard has worked in the employee benefits industry for the past 18 years servicing clients with both fully insured and partially self-funded plans.  She is highly trained in claims processing, eligibility, plan document and stop loss policy language and contracts and will be your advocate for service issues with the third party administrator as well as the stop loss carrier.  Carol has strong relationships with our dental, vision, life and disability carriers and will provide customer service for you with the carriers.

Sharen Applehans has 10 years of experience working for a large group insurance carrier in various roles involving underwriting, administration and management.  She has also worked for a small individual insurance and financial planning office.  She does a great job for BHA, servicing both self-funded and fully insured clients and supporting the BHA sales staff.

Stephanie Wheeler is a great asset to the BHA team, bringing her technical knowledge and skills to support business operations at BHA.  She also works as a data analyst and reporting specialist for BHA clients, allowing us to provide timely and relevant information and data to support recommendations and client decisions.

Keith Anderson leads the P&C division of Benefit Health Advisor, Lighthouse Professionals.  Keith is a seasoned risk management and business professional with over 30 years of experience in all lines of insurance products, with particular emphasis in property and casualty risk issues.  He has had successful tenures as a producer of new business, sales manager, agency owner and independent risk management consultant, executive vice president with a large regional broker, and President of an office for one of the current large international brokerage firms.  Keith continues his work at BHA with the desire to assist in providing expanded lines of product within the Property & Casualty arena.

A member of our P&C team, Kimberly Stephens is a seasoned insurance professional with nearly 30 years of experience in all lines of insurance products, with emphasis in property and casualty risks. The majority of her career has been spent with large retail brokers and placement of national programs. Kimberly’s prior experience includes management of a national program claims department. This experience provides her customers with invaluable insight and support when claims occur. Kimberly prides herself in providing excellent customer service, superior insurance advice and offering the benefit of her trusted carrier relationships to provide the best possible program with the most competitive terms to our customers.

Terry Evanson has over 30 years of experience in the P&C industry in Denver, of which 20 years were with a large National Broker working on large business risks. He worked with one large, multi-state client company where he designed and implemented programs that cut the cost of their workers' compensation by over 30%He has worked with both onshore and offshore Captive Insurance programs for a number of businesses. He provided risk assessment and evaluations for various Private Equity Groups for over 15 years. He has specialized in the area of Workers' Compensation for business operations.

Tyler Pulsipher found his passion for insurance early while studying Business Management at Brigham Young University. While going to school, he worked full time for an agency where he helped create and manage a national program to insure dental offices. Tyler started working for Lighthouse Professionals in 2016 and is an expert in the healthcare field where he works with many assisted living homes, home health care companies, hospice and nursing centers and physical therapy offices. He loves creating relationships and solving complex problems.
